HELP! I’m looking to help out Gary Friedrich and his current legal struggles with Marvel. I don’t have the means to donate $100+ to help him. So I’ve made Ghost Rider pins/magnets in support of him.

100% of proceeds will go to Gary (I will cover the Etsy and Paypal fees at my own expense). If you’re unable to purchase, PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD AND REBLOG THIS! I will do my best possible to make as many as what people demand. I simply want to help out a fellow artist, because we all need to support each other in this industry no matter what arises.

This May Starkweather Arts Center will pay homage to a bit of its history and also celebrate Lewis Carroll’s timeless “Alice in Wonderland”. Before Starkweather became an art center, even before it was Helen Starkweather’s residence, it was a millinery. Helen’s family made and sold hats out of this beautiful storefront on Main Street and over the years, through many renovations, evidence of their workspace still remain in our gallery. Mad Hatter’s Tea Party is a juried exhibit that will explore the themes and characters in Lewis Carroll’s “Alice in Wonderland”. We are accepting all media, both 2D and 3D work. Artwork will be juried either via email or, for local work, upon the drop off date.

Important Dates:
April 13th - Entry forms due
April 28th - Art Drop-off
May 4th - Opening Reception 7-9pm
May 26th - Last day of the show

The Opening of LoveSick
A huge thank you to everyone that made it out to the opening! It was more fun that I could have hoped for. Here are a few photos from the night so you can get an idea of what it was like. You can still catch the show in person until March 4th at LIFT.

The opening of LOVESICK was bloody fantastic. I’ll have lots of posts of the art and from the opening this week, but now that the show is over I can get to all the things I’ve been putting off while preparing for it.

(Oh, and I got the idea to do a drawn To Do list from the fabulous Kill Taupe. It really helped for me to feel less overwhelmed by doodling it out. Thanks for the inspiration, bro.)

I am cleaning my apartment.

No, that isn’t the important news. The reason I’m cleaning my apartment is the news.

In a few hours I will be picking up Mr. Cody Schibi at the airport because he pulled some last minute strings to fly up from Austin to be at the opening tonight!

He’ll be crashing at my pad and then flying out tomorrow morning. If you are a fan of his work and live in Metro Detroit then tonight is the night to actually meet him in person. I’m so very excited to actually get to hang with him in person after doing so many different shows together.

LOVESICK ARTIST PROFILE: CODY SCHIBI

Cody Schibi is a freelance illustrator based out of Austin, Texas. His artwork has been deemed “gracefully grotesque” with a mix of precise, fine line detail and dripping watercolors that depict horrifying yet beautiful images. His creations have been inspired by an obsession with horror films (predominately from the 1980s) as well as friends & fellow artists.
