I did this custom Munny a few years ago. It was my first foray into the field of toy customization. It is strange how different painting on a 3D figure is to just making a painting. It messes with my mind. I need to do more. I like the challenge.

Here is the list of all the pieces for sale in the Natural Resources 3 show with photos and artist bios if you are interested in purchasing (or if you just want a better look at all the pieces in the show). It is a truly fantastic show and I’m honored that I got to be a part of it.

Natural Resources 3 opens at Lift

killtaupe:

Last night was the opening of the much anticipated Natural Resources 3 at Lift in Royal Oak. There were over fifty wooden toys that had been customized by both national and local artists. If you were unable to make the opening the pieces will be on display until December 12th.

A few of my favorites from the show (from L to R): Audrey Pongracz, 64 Colors, Motorbot, Chris Ryniak w/ Amanda Spayd, Adrianna Bamber, Heather Hansma, D-Lux, Ryan Bubnis and Carl Oxley III

I had so much fun regarding this show. The piece was a ton of fun to create, and the opening was spectacular. I got to hang with a bunch of my favorite artists/people and talk shop like the art dorks we are. If you are in the area I highly recommend you head over to Lift to see this show in person.

I finished my piece for this show last night. Not only was it an amazing amount of fun, I’m truly honored to be in a show along side so many BAMFs.

(Ha ha, Lift and I posted this at the same time so that is why I didn’t just reblog it from them. Whoops.)

Working on my Average Joe Schmoe for the Natural Resources 3 show at LIFT.

I love to see other artists works in progress. I should take a snapshot of my piece for the show tonight. My goal is to have it completed this weekend. *fingerscrossed*

Lift will proudly be hosting the last showing of Bigshot Toyworks Natural Resources 3, a customized wooden figure show featuring pieces by Travis Lampe, Chris Ryniak, Brian Morris, Sean Mahan, Lola, Brian Flynn, Ken Keirns, local artists and more!

I am participating in this show! I’m really excited. I just picked up my blank Average Joe Schmoe today and I’m already scheming what he will look like customized.
Also, I’m really digging the new Lift logo.
The show opens November 13th from 7 - 10pm.
