I actually sent a text to my friend and fellow Detroit lowbrow artist, Kill Taupe, as soon as I heard the news. Sad day in the art world. Mike Kelley was an amazing artist. I was just admiring his work at the Detroit Institute of Art the other week.

Gus and Sue :: 2009
I am reposting this in memory of Augustin Vincent who passed away yesterday afternoon. Gus was the patriarch of the Vincent family and the grandfather of my significant other. I created this painting as a commission for Gus’s son, Dimitrie, that was given as a present to Gus and his wife, Sue. He is already greatly missed by many, many people.
Rest in peace, Gus.
